I have deeply saddening news. We are leaving Bath tomorrow morning. I really love this city (even with it's ungraceful nightlife) and I'm looking foward to visiting again...

Winchester was amazing - we packed so much in that I'll have to share later. I went on the Dole for an afternoon (only my Aussie friends will pick up on that I suspect).

I'll be in Oxford tomorrow - hopefully the internet will be better and I can actually put some pictures up! Take care and make sure to send recommendations my way ;)

OXFORD, England - June in Oxford means the splash and thunk of university students celebrating the end of exams by jumping from bridges into the River Cherwell or pelting each other with eggs.

Fearing it's gotten out of hand, university authorities on Friday proposed sanctions, including fines of $50-$120 on students who throw food or flour or who spray champagne or shaving foam.

Even those found carrying such items "with the intention of using them" could be punished, the university said. Throwing glitter or confetti are still allowed.

"I don't think it really inconveniences anyone, it's usually just glitter and champagne," said Laura John, 22, a student at Brasenose College who thought authorities were overreacting.

But Jeannine Pits, 20, a student at Wadham College, said "I think dead fish and pigs' blood are a bit much."

Oxford Food Review:

You will find some of the most hidebound restaurants outside London's Pall Mall there - it's hilarious. I recommend the Elizabeth on St Aldates for the bizarre Victorian coffee apparatus and brilliant creme brulee, and also the Luna Caprese on North Parade. I had a girlfriend at the time who had to review all the Oxford Restaurants for a Student Guide Book and the Caprese was for us the best combination of characterful (i.e. naff) decor and really good home made Italian food.

Several people also highly recommended using the book "The Good Pub Guide" at: http://www.goodguides.co.uk/index.asp

Oxford University, England is the oldest university in the English speaking world, dating back to the 11th century. Graduates of Oxford University in England have made notable contributions in every form of human endeavor.

Walk these streets and you will be following in the footsteps of Nobel prize winners, kings, presidents, and prime ministers. The university has produced saints, scientists, explorers, artists, authors and actors. Sir Tim Berners Lee, inventor of the world wide web (which makes reading this tour possible!), graduated from Queens College, Oxford.

Heeee! My parents were in Winchester and all around the place last month. The lucky things. And equally lucky you! They were saying Bath's pretty crazybusy.

May I just add I'm rather jealous? England's fun to explore. But so expensive. So, so, so expensive *sigh*
